Blink Tears Treat Dry Eye Without Blurring Vision

SANTA ANA, Calif., April 2008 — Advanced Medical Optics (AMO) has introduced a new type of eye drop, Blink Tears, which treats dry eyes without accompanying blurring of vision.

Made of ingredients naturally found in the eye, Blink Tears stabilizes the eye's natural tear film and helps the eye retain moisture for up to 60 minutes following use.

AMO officials say the product thickens when the eye is open, to provide extra protection, and thins when the eyelid is shut.

Blink Tears eye drops are sold over-the-counter.

AMO says the dry eye formula differs from other treatments because of its ability to preserve vision clarity while providing longer lasting relief.

Bausch & Lomb Acquires Soothe Lubricant Eye Drops

ROCHESTER, N.Y., August 2007 — Bausch & Lomb has announced its acquisition of the Soothe lubricant eye drop brand for dry eye from Alimera Sciences.

This includes the Soothe XP formula for over-the-counter sales.

The Soothe XP formula is designed to help re-establish the eye's protective oily or lipid layer by sealing in moisture and preventing evaporation.

Bausch & Lomb officials also said shipments have begun for a new, preservative-free Soothe formula, which rebuilds the tear film by retaining moisture on the eye's surface.
